Neuropediatric Project

The neuropediatric project is one of four projects run by a partnership between Region Stockholm, Jinja City, Uganda, the Ugandan NGO Busoga Health Forum and PHI. The partnership is being funded by the International Centre for Local Democracy (ICLD) until 2025. The neuropediatric group aims to increase awareness among healthcare workers in how to identify and manage children with neuropediatric and neurodevelopmental disabilities, to improve medical care and refine patient communication to reduce the stigmatization of this group of patients. Neuropediatric disorders include epilepsy, cerebral palsy and neurodevelopmental disorders. The team members work with pediatric staff from Stockholm and Jinja who have jointly developed a plan including regular seminars, structuring of patient files and joint clinics, as well as an assessment of the management of children with epilepsy in the Busoga region.
